Put tape on the stripes you won't paint.

Use the exact colours for the stripes as were used for the first parchment finish (the next layer will turn out much darker). Employ a few swipes of every paint mix, then spread it around with a damp cheesecloth in curved, ameba-shaped movements. Then dab to blend any traces. After a stripe is done, pull off the tape right away so any surplus paint below the tape can be removed with a rag.
